Experts Discuss Impact of Additive Manufacturing on the Aerospace Supply Chain
Paris—June 20, 2017 The incredible possibilities and potential challenges of additive manufacturing (AM) in aerospace will be the focus of what promises to be a lively panel discussion as part of the Paris Air Show on June 20th sponsored by Canada’s Samuel, Son & Co. and Burloak Technologies. For the first time in history the rapidly developing AM technology is opening the door to implications for all sectors of the aerospace supply chain simply not possible before. The panel will discuss factors that may accelerate or challenge the progress of AM in the aerospace sector, the evolution of the technology, as well as the adoption and certification of parts produced by AM so that they qualify for flight. The Samuel/Burloak panel will be moderated by Simon Walls, Samuel’s Chief Commercial Officer. The five speakers on the panel are: - Mark Saunders, Renishaw (Director – Global Solutions Centres) - Troy Johnson, Macdonald Dettwiler (Business Development Manager Space & Advanced Robotics) - Dr. Raj Thamburaj, Magellan Aerospace (Director – Advanced engineering) - Dr. Mathieu Brochu, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (Director, Powder Processing and AM) - Dr. Ehsan Toyserkani, Waterloo University, Waterloo, Ontario Canada– (Research Chair, AM)
Seating is limited so those wishing to attend are encouraged to R.S.V.P and arrive early to sign in. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
Peter Adams, President, Burloak Technologies, which recently entered an agreement to be purchased by Samuel, says the panel discussion is going to cover some interesting ground. “Additive Technology is a truly, disruptive technology that literally has everyone talking about what may or may not happen, particularly in the highly-regulated world of aerospace,” Adams said. “This discussion is going to be both thought provoking and eye opening.”
