DMLS Additive Metal Manufacturing

Burloak Technologies' AMM (Additive Metal Manufacturing) process utilizes state of the art DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) systems to produce prototype, production and replacement parts directly from digital data using a process referred to as DDM (Direct Digital Manufacturing) to deliver fully dense components in a wide range of metals in a matter of hours rather than the weeks and sometimes months offered by traditional methods.


Additive Metal Parts

By building parts one layer at a time, our DMLS systems allow the creation of complex features within parts that would be impossible to produce with traditional subtractive manufacturing methods. These complex geometries can include features such as fully conformal heating and cooling channels in molds, dies and turbo components, complex heat exchanger geometries, and lightweight componentry with extremely thin wall sections.

Another key benefit of our AMM process is the ability to dramatically improve designs by combining multiple components within an assembly into a single component thereby reducing manufacturing costs, eliminating assembly costs and risks and allowing for much lighter and potentially more efficient designs.

What metals can be used?

Burloak can obtain powders and develop production processes for most metals. We are always researching new metals to continually meet customer needs. The following metals are considered standard:

How can parts be finished?

Burloak has complete capability to finish AMM components with high precision multi-axis CNC machining. AMM components can be CNC machined in the same manner as traditionally forged, bar and cast materials but with AMM we are usually able to produce parts that are much closer to net shape, and in many cases at net shape, direct from the 3D printing process.
